The Kaidro cinematic was created as more than a visual introduction. It was an opportunity to bring the world, characters, and lore of Kaidro to life while giving audiences a glimpse into the larger story ahead.

Building the World of Kaidro
Originally introduced as a webtoon series, Kaidro follows Ava and her ability to channel source energy from the astral realm into the real world. Set in a war-torn world divided by technology and spirituality, the story has always been designed with a larger vision in mind, including a planned three-season animated series. The cinematic focuses on Ava, her abilities, the Void, and the mysterious relic at the center of her story. It also explores the duality within Ava and the question of whether she will ultimately become a savior or a destroyer.
From Comic Panels to 3D Animation
The team began with storyboards and animatics, using moments from the original comics as inspiration. Those ideas were then rebuilt in 3D using Unreal Engine.

One of the key artistic goals was maintaining a '90s anime-inspired aesthetic. The team combined 3D models with hand-painted textures to create a visual style that felt connected to the original comics while taking advantage of modern production tools. Color also played an important storytelling role. Warm tones helped emphasize the relic, cooler colors created the more pleasant atmosphere of the upper cities, while unnatural purples represented the chaotic energy of the Void.
Bringing the Characters to Life
Voice acting added another layer to the cinematic. Trina Nishimura voices Ava, while Jason Marsden voices the spirit guardian, Far.
The creators even shared a memorable recording story involving Marsden. During a long road trip to a wedding, they found themselves recording his voice from a parked car.

The production also found a strong musical match in "Loyal" by Odezsa, whose combination of tribal and digital energy complemented the tone of Kaidro.

One World, Multiple Formats
A major part of the team's production philosophy is efficiency. By building high-quality 4K assets that can be used across the game, comics, and animation, the team can maintain visual consistency while making the production process more manageable. The cinematic is ultimately another piece of the larger Kaidro universe, connecting its characters, visual language, lore, and future projects.
